New office premises ‘Muiden Maritiem’ openend festively

Muiden Maritiem Easter Monday, or vlaggetjesdag (lit. Flags’ day), mayoress Worm-de Moel opened ‘Muiden Maritiem’s’ new office premises at the Herengracht in Muiden by scooping an ice-cream herself and officially presenting this to joint owner Cleo Diesveld. The ‘Muider Skippers’ Band’ provided a lively musical touch to the festive opening. Despite the changeable weather, the opening was well-attended.

Muiden Martiem has its own business outing!

At the end of the sailing season it is time to evaluate and look forward, but also to do something fun together. As a professional organizer of business outings, it is of course a challenge to come up with an original team outing. And, what is more fun than our own business outings? Together with our colleagues of Rederij Belle we took an etiquette workshop and went for dinner in a lovely Amsterdam restaurant. There we talked about the (non)sense of the various etiquettes until late. All in all an inspiring business outing!

Muiden Martiem looks forward

In the middle of the quiet winter season, Muiden Maritiem prepares for the upcoming season. New unique arrangements are created and the evaluation forms that we have received from you are used to improve our products even more. But besides all that, we are also still sailing! Various events are planned during the winter months. The ships are used as a meeting location, for example, and as a playful place to have your informal gatherings! Please check our winter pages for more options.

Hoge Wier scores for War Child

war child Clipper the Hoge Wier has closed the season 2007 with an impressive number of victories. The competitive team has contributed this season to War Child. All season long, we have collected and advertised for this foundation. And with success: the Hoge Wier expects to make over 8000 euros to the foundation.

Team ‘Hoge Wier’ supports War Child in the Pieperrace

war child On April 14th and 15th, the traditional Pieperrace was held in Volendam. The first match of the new season for charter boats. The crew of the Hoge Wier supported the charity foundation War Child with the help of sponsors Groenpol and Topocommunicatie. The awareness was raised and of all the participating ships financial support was asked. Flags and sponsor forms were handed out. Many of those that sailed the race have taken the action for this amazing charity in account.

The Hoge Wier wins Pieperrace

The Hoge Wier has won the Pieperrace, which was sailed last weekend from Volendam, in a spectacular way! The new sails worked well: after two days of sailing, a lead of over one hour on our direct opponents became a fact! And the number of opponents was great: never competed this many ships in the Pieperrace. 79 Traditional boats entered this sunny opening match of the charter season.

The Hoge Wier faster than ever

It is very hard to choose the right sail maker. The aim for our clipper Hoge Wier is to get high scores in the sailing competitions with our new sails, especially under light and normal weather conditions. Jaap Jongsma came with a revolutionary plan; rigging with horizontal strips, extended followings with sail slats and headsails made of Laminate fabric. A big change when you are used to the traditional way of making sails.
After four days of training under the ideal circumstances of 7 – 23 knots of wind, the results are extraordinary. With low wind speeds the ship reacts very quickly and sails very close to the wind. The moment the sails need to be taken in comes even later than we thought, because of the nice twist in the sails. We go fast and we go hauled!
Sail maker Molenaar has fulfilled his promise and delivered all the sails. We have great confidence in the upcoming competitive sailing season.

Do we make your day? A little? A little bit more?

Muiden Maritiem presents itself here slightly different from before: another logo, another letter type, another site, other colours, and a new catchphrase: ‘we make your day’. The question is: do you think so too? There are only two ways to find out. The first is that you write us about your experiences and opinions. The second is that you try us. Come to us for a day of sailing with one of our sailing or motorized vessels en tell us at the end of the day what you think of Muiden Maritiem. Don’t be gentle, we can handle it!

The privateers are coming! Return to the age of the VOC

Admiraal de Ruyter At Muiden Maritiem, this is called the “Admiral de Ruyter arrangement”. We sail on a cargo ship around the Markermeer. In various trade settlements in ‘the West’ and ‘the East’ your team and the teams on board of the other cargo ships buy goods, which you sell at a profit in Amsterdam. But you have to be on the lookout for the dangerous and fast privateer that sails around! The privateers can take everything away from the cargo ships when they succeed to enter the ships. The team that has the best trading spirit will win this fanatical race for goods and ducats.
A programme full of action and sensation that last about 14 to 20 hours and can be composed to your wishes. The arrangement, for companies from 80 persons, costs from € 99,- per person (all-in). Click here for more information.

Do you like to win? Test yourself in a match race

Matchracen Two identical boats that race each other in a match: that is called match racing. Because of the relatively short racing course (upwind – downwind), the boats will come across each other regularly and that is exactly what makes this race both spectacular and challenging. After multiple races of approximately 25 minutes, you will know who the winner is. You will sail a 50-foot sailboat designed for the great competitive yachting matches, such as Fastnet and the Admiral’s Cup.
Check our website for the programme from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the all-in prices.

The Hoge Wier also in 2007 at the top

Hoge Wier Our flagship ‘The Hoge Wier’ has won many prizes during last season. And during the upcoming season we want to perform even better. We have asked one of the best sail makers today, Molenaar, to develop special rigging based on the most state of the art technical insights. The ship has now been to the shipyard for the underwater ship and the whole ship has been painted. Would you like to sail this winner with us or would you like to rent the ship for one of the upcoming matches? Please check our site for the possibilities.

2500 employees on a mission

ABN Amro Last season, ABN AMRO bank sent 2500 employees with a mission for a one-day trip of sailing the Dutch waters. Various assignments had to be completed on the IJsselmeer and Wadden Sea. Teams of 15 to 30 persons left 8 different harbours on various ships. A successful event: Muiden Maritiem was closely involved in this project. So your teambuilding event will be in good hands with us as well. Call Angela or Cleo.
